Everything met and exceeded our expectations. The staff is incredibly professional and nice. The food was INCREDIBLE, fresh ingredients and exquisite preparation. The resort premises are huge, in the middle of a secluded, quiet part of the near-beach jungle. We stayed in an individual lodge with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The rooms are designed and furnished in the traditional Mexican and Yucatan style. The resort is a piece of paradise: quiet, surrounded by trees and vegetation, there's a lagoon nearby ON THE PROPERTY. There's also a cenote right in the resort and it includes an underground cave which can be toured, one of the *many* activities the resort offers (for free). It really feels like the resort was built around the nature and the spirit of the Yucatan peninsula, as opposed to putting these elements around the resort. There are plenty of activities and things to explore just within the resort itself, with many swimming pools, bike tours and hidden gems on the premises (such as a traditional church, quiet gazebos, the cenote, library, a recreation of a Mayan village, etc.). The resort is approx 10 mins drive from Tulum, 8 mins drive from Xel-Ha water park. We'd recommend renting and coming by car for everyone who stays here to enjoy the surroundings as well (including places like Playa Paraiso). The staff was incredibly accommodating: we missed our connection and lost one night of vacation stuck in Atlanta and the resort management offered us an extra night *for free* to make up for this (although they didn't have to). We also met the owner of the resort along with the director and we could feel their passion for nature, for preserving and passing the spirit of the place onto the resort and its guests. Big thanks and kudos to Gonzo (leading cenote and cave tours and various other activities), Alejandro (our favorite restaurant staff), and all other staff who made our stay feel warm and welcome.

Set in the jungle near Tulum, there are three pools, and a gorgeous green lagoon with bar and food service and extremely comfortable lounging, paddle boards and kayaks. We did both tours with the amazing Gonzo; Cenote underground water tour and the Mayan Village Tour on bikes. These were the highlights of our vacation so do not miss -- our older teens just loved them! During our stay we saw iguanas, bats, giant spiders, and a boa constrictor. Note, there were no crocs in the lagoon! There were three options for the included breakfast (plus a fruit bowl, granola, honey and yogurt, coffee and a fresh juice). Options were pancakes or waffles with maple syrup, eggs and bacon with salad, or a traditional Mexican chiquillies with an egg and green or red salsa. Each of our family had a different preference for breakfast which we enjoyed. Breakfast was so filling we could last until late afternoon until our next meal. As we had rented a car we visited nearby Akumal and Puerto Aventuras for meals (another traveler recommended AVIS for car rental). We spent four nights at Wakax. If you have a car, I suggest a three night stay so you can do both tours. BTW, if you have claustrophobia you may not like the cenote tour. The bikes are great fun, staff and owners are very friendly, the rooms are huge and right out of a glossy travel magazine, and the setting is out of this world!

What an amazing place! Where to start ... well there are so many different places to swim (lake, 3 pools, cenote) all in really beautiful surroundings. Or you can help yourself to bikes and explore the outer grounds, seeing exotic birds and iguanas, the Mayan village and the myriad of buldings, including a church. Then you can use the kayaks, paddleboards and gym, or just sunbathe on the deck by the lagoon, or perhaps take a well-earned rest on your huge bed in your room that looks like it should be in Interiors magazine. And all this after you've had a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit and Mexican scrambled eggs, served by really lovely staff (all the staff were excellent). And not to forget one of the highlights of the trip, a tour of the underwater river with the expert guide, Gonzalo. No spoilers, but it was the best tour we have ever been on, and he was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout our stay. All these activities are included in the price, which adds to the feeling of zen - there's no hard sell, nobody telling you where you can or can't go. I would recommend going when we did - early April, after the US holidays. The weather was hot but not oppressive, and we had the place almost to ourselves.

Everything was amazing. It feels like the owners care about the details and making your stay as comfortable as possible. The territory was huge, there were multiple cenotes, underground river, a beautiful lagoon, 3 pools, and more. There's lots of things to do that are included in your stay, like kayaks/paddle boards, bike tours, underground river tour and daily yoga classes. The tour guide Gonzalo was amazing, he was very passionate about the tours, and went above and beyond in making sure everyone was comfortable and had a great time during the experiences. The food in the restaurant was really good, and the staff very nice and helpful. There's plenty to do on the premises, but the location is also close to many of Tulum's white sand beaches.

Breakfast was delicious and with great variety - the food overall was wonderful and the cocktails were delicious. We felt so looked after by the staff, who were all friendly and very responsive when we had queries. The setting is blissful - we felt quite secluded in the jungle and the facilities were top-notch. We loved the range of complimentary activities, particularly the cenote tour with Gonzalo, the on-site guide. He led us on an incredible tour of the underground river (cenote) right on the property. There are numerous different pools in lovely settings in addition to the gorgeous lagoon. The entire experience was wonderful, start to finish, and we will most definitely be back.
